If you’re a big Korean foodie like me, and you’re still searching for the best spot, stop what you’re doing and head to the Heights. The search is over. Asian Pear is your new spot for Korean deliciousness.

Asian Pear came into the Albuquerque scene back in 2015, and since then they have solidly become a top Asian fusion place to go to. Now, you’re not going to be overwhelmed with the options they have to offer. The menu is minimalistic and simple—but don’t worry, that’s a good thing.

Some restaurants offer a stacked selection of food that bounces all over the place in terms of genre, but Asian Pear simplifies your selections. Looking down the list of bowls, I can quickly list my picks. The Korean spicy pork (daegi bul gogi) bowl ($7.48) is my number one. Being a New Mexican, I’m a lover of spicy foods; but this is a different type of spice. Tangy, juicy and succulent, it’s the bowl if you’re the type that likes to sweat when you eat.

Have you ever had a Korean pancake? If you haven’t, you need to try them. Vegan-friendly, it’s combined with a spicy sauce making it melt in your mouth.

Asian Pear is simple and delicious. It’s been a pleasure to see the owners develop and grow their business as they’ve introduced the city to more Korean food culture. And it’s a plus their menu is light. I recommend everyone put this on their summer list.
