Frank’s Chicken and Waffles is by now a well-known Albuquerque staple. Frank’s serves up some of the best soul food you can get in town. Frank has been serving up good eats and good times for years. This spot has built on its reputation for high-quality chicken and Southern-style cuisine, and it has a knack for developing regulars off the first bite.

Now, if you find yourself here on a weekend or for lunch, make sure to grab one of their famous plates. The six wings and two waffles plate ($11) is their staple. I find myself constantly going back to it. Juicy, tender chicken wings mixed with the fluffy sweet goodness of the waffle are to die for. Definitely worth cheating on your diet for.

It doesn’t stop at chicken. Franks also serves some of the best po’ boy sandwiches ($9) in town. There’s also shrimp ‘n’ grits ($13) and Frank’s ocean plate ($16). These plates incorporate a genre of food Albuquerque is desperately missing—high-quality Southern-style cooking. Just like mom used to make.

When the famous comes into the name, it’s truly earned. High-profile celebrities find themselves eating at Franks, even some of Albuquerque’s biggest names. And the reason why it’s developed is because of the heart and soul that goes into every bite. Frank’s goes high on my top places to eat in the city. And if you’re a first-timer, it will be on your list too.
