The temperature is kicking up, so why wouldn’t you enjoy the New Mexican heat on a patio with a glass of wine? I know I will, as my preferred winery of choice, D.H. Lescombes, has the best wines at the ready and a killer back patio.

One of the more renowned establishments in the city, Lescombes seems to always garner a crowd. With a sleek atmosphere and relaxing vibe, it’s a choice that will be on my agenda throughout the summertime.

Lescombes features some high-profile wine and arguably the best selection in town. If you’re like me and see yourself leaning toward a red, I suggest you order their 6.3.1 Signature Merlot. It has a nice dry finish, containing cherry notes, herbs and peppercorn. Now, if a red is a bit much for you and you need something lighter in the heat, go for Lescombes’ 6.3.1 Signature Chenin Blanc. It’s crisp, refreshing and you’ll find yourself picking up notes of apple and kiwi—a perfect pick for the patio.

We all know what pairs best with wine: Cheese. And Lescombes has got the cheese. A regular dish I order is the Signature Nosh ($19), a generous spread variety of meats, cheeses, veggies and fruits. You may just skip the entree afterward. If you’re not really feeling the meats, try their baked brie ($13). Good on its own and pairs great with a white.

If you’re looking for a summer spot, this is the place to head to. With live music on the patio, you’ll see me here every weekend with a glass in hand.
