Don’t you love taking an afternoon break with some fine tobacco and a cup of warm Irish tea? Well, this St. Patty’s Day the well-known Albuquerque tearoom will be hosting an event including all of that—and of course, beer.

St. James Tearoom will be celebrating St. Patty’s Day fare in their beautiful tea garden featuring an assortment of Irish-related food, drink and of course, Guinness. Hint: We think you should have all three! The tea room features a special March menu called “Dublin’s Fare: Cheers to Arthur Guinness!”

If you’ve ever had high noon tea at St. James, you’ll know that the artfully-crafted tea house submerges guests into the authentic English tea house environment. With scents that tickle your nose and wrap their warm presence around you, you’ll be ready for a big hat, a stiff upper lip and another spot of tea.

For St. Patty’s Day, Irish afternoon tea is something else. It’s a black tea that doesn’t have as much caffeine in it as English tea, which can be great if you like a little more mellow cup of tea at the end of the day. Enter the fine tobacco smoke. Toking on the tobaccy has been an after-work ritual for years. Combine the two, and you’re in for a treat.

If You Only Have One Thing…

St. James offers the best hors d’oeuvres in the city—perfect for an afternoon bite. Try their tiny treats and sandwiches, which go well with their vast tea selection. It’s only fitting to talk about their Irish Soda Breads ($9 for four). Soaked in wisteria tea and served with a side of whiskey butter, it’s the best damn bread you’ll ever taste.

This isn’t your average tearoom. It’s an Irish tearoom, so stop by on March. 17 and have a smoke will ya?
